Merkatum’s emfiva-F/FRSTM multi-biometric ID management system is acquired by Mexico’s Department of Justice (Consejo de la Judicatura Federal)

Merkatum Corporation, a leading developer and provider of multi-biometric identification software and managed services, today announced that the Company has been awarded a project to install and integrate its emfiva-F/FRSTM facial and fingerprint recognition system by Mexico’s Federal Department of Justice (Consejo de la Judicatura Federal, ‘CJF’). CJF’s progressive Parolee Identity Verification Program aims to improve end-user accountability and service levels, to dramatically reduce identity fraud, and to substantially increase financial income for the agency. The centrally-managed system will use facial and/or fingerprint recognition technologies to verify and confirm the presence of a parolee in a federal courthouse in accordance with CJF’s legal stipulations and will seamlessly integrate to the agency’s existing case management and bail bond administration system. Merkatum’s solution will be implemented in 314 courthouses across 66 main cities in the nation and will be supported by Ide Networks, an experienced and accredited local security and identity management systems integrator. The system will be operational by 2Q-2008 and carries a ‘high six-figure’ price tag.

The acquired emfiva-F/FRSTM multi-biometric system will effectively enroll and verify the identity of thousands of parolees throughout the country with high matching throughput and precision rates.
